Emilia Sanabria’s book Plastic Bodies: Sex Hormones and Menstrual Suppression in Brazil has been awarded the Michelle Z. Rosaldo Prize from the AAA's Association for Feminist Anthropology. The prize is awarded to a first book that draws on and makes a significant contribution to feminist anthropology.

Plastic Bodies was also awarded the Diana Forsythe Prize Honorable Mention from the AAA’s Society for the Anthropology of Work (SAW) and CASTAC. It is supported by the General Anthropology Division (GAD) and celebrates the best book published in the spirit of Diana Forsythe’s feminist anthropological research on work, science, or technology, including biomedicine.
